The Aguda (Student Union) is the official student body for all of Ben Gurion University's students.
Based in Be'er Sheva, the Aguda organizes exciting and interesting events on an almost daily basis. The Aguda also addresses issues related to the welfare of the student body as a whole and of individual students. Members of the Aguda are even entitled to unlimited access to the University's Sports Center in Be'er Sheva. All students are able to join the Aguda by paying the "welfare/student activity" fee at the beginning of the academic year.
To learn more about the Aguda, visit their website (English or Hebrew). The Aguda also sends out a weekly update in English specifically for international students (sign up). Or just check the Aguda out on Facebook!

The Jacob Blaustein Institute for Desert Research is a part of the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Our students are at the vanguard of desert science, conducting exciting research in the fields of agriculture and biotechnology, hydrology and microbiology, architecture and sustainable development, solar energy and environmental physics, and desert ecology. For more information, visit the institute's official website.
We are located in Midreshet Ben-Gurion (מדרשת בן-גוריון), with plenty of facilities (check their website out!)
Our student body numbers approximately 250, across all departments. Most of us are completing Master's degrees, PhDs, or Postdoctoral research. We come from across Israel and the globe and are happy to answer any question you might have. Feel free to write us at councilsb@post.bgu.ac.il.
Before you arrive
Academic informations
The Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research were established in 1974. Today, they are global leaders in research on desertification and sustainable development of the drylands. In addition, researchers and students investigate ways to meet global challenges related to food security, water scarcity, clean energy and more.
The Blaustein Institutes are located at the Sede Boqer Campus of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, in the heart of the Negev Desert, which covers some 60 percent of the land of Israel and represents the country’s last open frontier for sustainable development. Our scientists dwell in the desert—in physical and intellectual interaction with their living laboratory.
SB Council
The SB student council is a group of students working voluntarily. Our goal is to work together in order to benefit our academic and non-academic life on campus. We advocate the administration on behalf of students, organize social events, and much more. The official student body for all of Ben Gurion University's is the Aguda.
Here you will find the people responsible for each committee so if you want to join any of the committee, please get in contact with them.
